i was a bit sad on Sunday because its the last fly week at stockley where the south Cheshire heliaddicts have been for the last 10 years and its only that the farm has been sold that we have to go .i have looked at many flying site over the last 3 months they all seem to be to wet or no off road parking ,so you can imagine having looked and found on where for us to go, then matt my good friend at barnstormers model shop said we can use his fields for the club i was over the moon .so it was decided that we would go down last Saturday and cut roll the new strip .well to my surprise there were a lot of members there to help (thanks guys) . after the rolling and cutting was done (which will need more work to get it as good as we are use to ) the plane guys tested it out .so are new home was in place ,i think we will be happy there :tee:

Yet another good sunday and a dry field for a change. Spent more time fixing the car instead of flying/driving.

These cars are great but seem to spend more time on the table than the ground. Was impressed by the docs new bits will have to upgrade mine.

I need to get my heli's fixed and get flying again hopefully will be back in the air in a couple of weeks.

Nic - your trench foot seemed to be better

Peachy graced us with his car but didn't see any high speeds think he is still running it in. 1.5d pete had his car out and due to his great eye sight he was bouncing of every car/ people insight. Also he did say something about putting the car in the cupboard with the rest of his models.

Pete also mentioned he was getting broadband from the post office - as roy siad its got to be a bit of a pain in the arse having to pick your emails from the post office everyday. Roy did suggest to pete try morse code.

Gorgeous day down the field, perfect flying weather.

The day began with the much anticipated arrival of the cat with his Boomerang. The day had finally dawned for him to become a plonker (ahh oops planker). Roy stepped up to check the plane out, a distinct lack of elevator was found which was soon rectified, and he marvelled at the cat throttle set-up. Soon she was all fuelled up and good to go.

Cat was keen for Tim to have the maiden flight but Tim seemed strangely worried, or was he hoping for the Cat to have the maiden.

Eventually he agreed, Carl and Bachey arrived just in the nick of time for take off, many photos were taken of the Boomerang in case of impending disaster.

Tim took off and had an uneventful maiden. It was cats turn, with hands shaking like mad (too much caffeine and nicotine I think) it was take off time. Throttle opened and he was off straight off into a circuit, he did a few steady circuits and then it was time to land. Down she came slowly, he overshot the runway but she was down intact. Job well done.

The paparazzi were a little despondent, no accident scene to photograph. Smithy was very quiet as the Cat had proved him wrong.

However as Smithy was quick to point out he still had to do circuits the other way and land with a cross wind etc, etc.....

A further flight was uneventful except for a hard landing which saw to the demise of the steerable nose wheel!

Cat, you know that thing we mow and roll its for landing on!

Dean was down the field with new wheels on his rc car and a brand new Raptor Titan 50 heli.
The day didn't start well, car started up and off down the track with one wheel rolling off ahead of the car, oops think you have some work to do on that Dean.

Tim checked the heli over and pointed out a few areas of concern. Like lack of locktite and no nuts on servo linkages. However before the day was out Smithy and 3DPete had him hopping around the field.

Peachy had dug out some relic from his garage to fly, a spitfire. Roy the ex spitfire mechanic was soon helping him to get it air worthy. Looked a bit of a handful in the air, Peachy you were in control with it really weren't you? or is the Parkinsons finally catching up with you. At one point he nearly took Bachey's dads head off on a low pass! Upon landing he performed some bizarre mating ritual dance for the cameras which can be found elsewhere on this site.

Smithy was very excited as he had re set-up his Raptor and governor all on his own. Smithy come on, how long u been flying! Dad Tim must of done everything for you in the last 12 months. Maybe your new year resolution should be to understand heli set-up :)

Doc was out with his FG Monster Beetle which he promptly drove into my ankle at speed. Cheers Ian, can still walk just although somewhat black and blue. Me and the doc then had a bit of a drag race, Baja verses FG Beetle, think docs is slightly quicker in a straight line but mine actually goes round corners!

My car fun came to a sudden end when I crashed into 3DPete's car at full pelt (didn't see him honest!) breaking my steering servo.

Had a few flights on my Boomerang with the Buddy box. Still have learning to do, Tim pulled off a couple of good saves where I was plummeting earthwards. Cheers Tim. Will have to follow the Cats example and try the sim I think.

Only heli I had with me was a trex as had no room in the car for anything else, bloody plank takes up all the room. Had a few uneventful flights with that daring the hedge to suck me in like it had to 3DPete on Boxing day.

Hope to add some pics later but haven't had time yet to resize them

Hi all,
Bought i Pup a few weekends ago,it has a saito 100 up front with a Futaba 8ch Pcm controlling the 3001's.(Dave Evans's old one)
Wanted to take it down yesterday but it wasnt ready so when i got in from the field on sunday i got right to it!(didnt take long)
Got up this morning itchin to take it just to find it was windy but i thought sod it,lets go anyway.(much to my misses dissapointment! "we need to buy wrap deliver cards an presents,we need to do this that an the other")lol, yeh ok then,c u in a bit :ridinghorse:
So i got down there, took me about 10 mins to put it together.did me a range check, then ran it up,had a few engine probs but i richened it up an it seemed ok!
Sod's law there was a 15mph cross wind so i put it at the end of the runway attempting to go into wind(but it still wasnt).I put it on about half throttle to see how she reacted, the right wheel was off the floor in no time with the left wing tip threatening to touch the deck,so with a little right inputed it was up in the air.I added a little throttle to get some height,it was climbing way to much and dropping the right wing(a bit of trim needed),so a few circuits later she was flying straight and level with hands off. Then she decided to cut out :motz: So down it came into wind with a perfect floatie landing.
So with that i put it away and went home before the rain came.
Very happy with it tho, just a little bit of setting up on the four stroke an i think we will be bang on for next time.
Will just take this oppertunity to say i hope you all have a nice day tomorrow an a good new year.(Might see some of you before new yr tho)
:tee:

Another quality sunday flying session with all the regulars, except Nick, whos on christmas dutys. There were even a few suprise visits from the less regular members, the busier members out of us!

The Cap232 got to the skys with a full tank, and loose wheels, which i found upon landing. Well chuffed with it, flew great after a generous amount of left aileron trim! That 6 year old who built it mustn't have had any adult supervision whilst cutting out and glueing the hinges in, on any control surface for that matter :hmmmm2:

2nd flight, wheel back on, and i'd been persuaded to fly with a loose aileron hinge. "the control rod will hold it on" were the words of confidence from Roy. So away it went. Good flight, nice slow flying and snap rolls at the blink of an eye, but rough running engine, the Enya 60 4 banger was doing a bit of spluttering. Another loose part, this time the exhaust. Snapped flange, thats right Smithy, FLANGE. Over to Tims van for a bit of bodging. Moved the onion fryer and got the exhaust in the vice for a bit of oxy acetelene action! Top job by the way Tim, ta. Popped it back on with a hand fron top mechanic Andy P and back in the air. :top: What a buy. Gotta get on ebay and get another bargain before Andy beats me to it.

The award for "best recovery" goes to Dave Bachey this weekend after he refused everyones hand launch, then went on to do the quickest touch and go we've ever seen after throwing his own plane into the ground :trytofly:

Lovely day down the field, bloody cold though!

Flew a few tanks through the trex, but this soon led to very cold fingers.

The Boomerang was finally finished down at the field, thanks to the pit team of Slippers Pete, Bachey, Jon and Tim.

Slippers Pete had the honour of first take off and nothing fell off. Everyone else proceeded to have a go and declared it fit for an idiot like me to have a go of.

After several tank fulls the engine was settling in nicely (I can highly recommend the OS 46 AX, seems like a nice piece of kit)

Next it was my turn on the buddy lead, couldn't feel my fingers at this point. Jon handed over to me and off into my first circuits. Interesting experience can't quite get used to it just staying up in the air, if only heli's would!

My biggest problem was keeping the height in turns but I'm sure it will come. Happy to of had a go without practicing on the sim first.

Think it will definately improve my circuits, did one take off and then bad light stopped play.

Looking forward to trying some landings!

Thanks guys for all your help and advice, will get more flights in next sunday, hopefully people will be available to buddy box.

Plane returned home in 1 piece, even the under carriage was intact

Weather not too bad, although following heavy rain the night before the field was a real mess.

Flew one of my trex's that I hadn't flown for 5 weeks and nearly stuffed it into the ground immediately. Note to self: check control directions prior to flying first flight of the day. My elevator input was incorrect, the 2 back eccpm servos pulling in opposite directions on elevator commands. Made for an interesting landing but got away with it. Appears I must of messed up my cyclock settings somehow on the bench.

Flying was fairly minimal at the field, Tim tried the cyclock on his Synergy and didn't like it. So it will be coming straight off.

Smithy was flying the rappy 50 and his flying is really coming on now, the new v paddles making everything far more responsive.

Mark made a rare sunday appearance at the field with his Raptor 90 (His synergy still isn't finished, come on Mark, get it sorted!) The Raptor 90 had only recently been put back together following a smash. First flight, Mark was flying in his usual close-in style with me cowering behind a van :) (His loops always look far to close to me!). Towards the end of the flight he went to do a stall turn to the right of himself and there was an audible crack, everyone heard it and rushed to see what was going on. No drive to tail! Came down on its side unfortunately onto the tarmac track and it must of bounced 3-4 ft. Big damage, photos in the gallery. Post accident investigation revealed the carbon tt had sheared at the tail gearbox, the hidden bling had cost him dear. Back to the stainless steel tt I should think.

The usual fun was had with the rc cars with Pete's car feeling the worst of the mud. Pete tried to get his own back but Tim soon saw him off with a major hit, bending his chassis plate through about 60 degress. Trip to Barnstormers required.

Pete's was goaded into flying his zagi into a tree. Then followed half an hour of rock and javelin throwing. It was decided that Roy got the award for finesse with the javelin but range was woeful. Eventually the zagi came down after a direct rock hit, more damage for Pete to repair.

The day concluded with everyone having a go of Ian's FG Beetle, monster piece of kit. I want one :damnmate:
